Red Light and Near Infrared Light Therapy

In this day and age, most people are exposed to artificial lights all day long whether it be in their home, at work, from personal electronic devices (phones, computers, TVs) or simply walking into a grocery store. “Fake lights” emit a high level of blue light. Not only are we exposed to this harmful fake light all day long, but we are not getting enough of the red and near infrared wavelengths that are present in natural sunlight.

This can become very impactful to our health over time because all living things need this natural light spectrum to help our mitochondria to make cellular energy (ATP). Without enough ATP, our bodies cannot properly restore themselves, which is why many people struggle with things like inflammation, low energy, poor sleep, and so much more. Different spectrums of light send important messages to our bodies, and most of us are “starving” for red light!

We love having our patients use the Joovv during their deuterium depletion protocol because of the positive impact it has on energy production in the mitochondria. Basically, when red light enters our cells, it makes the water less viscous so that hydrogen can more easily enter the cells to create ATP (cellular energy).

It’s important to know that the spectrum of light to achieve these benefits is key. Red light in the mid-600 nm range, and near infrared light in the mid-800s range is the most beneficial. Here at the Center for Deuterium Depletion, we use Joovv’s full body devices that deliver these optimal spectrums of light.

The Benefits

Using red light therapy can offer a ton of different benefits; increased cellular energy, higher melatonin production, balanced circadian rhythm, cellulite/fat reduction, improved skin health, better sleep, more collagen production, faster muscle recovery, reduced joint pain, less inflammation, and much more.

I started using the Joovv a few months ago and have experienced some noticeable benefits including fading of acne scars, fewer acne breakouts, improved energy, and better quality sleep!

There’s a ton of science to support why red light and near infrared light provides all of these benefits. If you’re interested in learning more, here’s a link to Joovv’s website where you can find more in-depth information:  https://joovv.com/pages/learn
